Neither Don or I enjoyed the notion of being herded into any sort of planned recreation, and it was a
pleasant surprise to discover no one anticipated you

If we seemed inclined to discuss, there was generally someone to speak with, and we did not once feel left
Outside, for there were lots of invitations to join the volleyball game or badminton or whatever
was going. I
Forever stepped down from volleyball after several unsuccessful attempts to get the
darn thing over the net, but Don adores it. It was a wonderful feeling to meet entirely fresh people,
and appreciate new interests and tasks. By the time we were loving "sec
onds" in coffee at
dinner that first evening, we no longer felt like fresh
